![]() Take a look and see where the linkages on the record button end up. Next up would be the rec/play switch system. I'll bet any grease used is hard and brittle now. Also, the ratchet systems used to move the head up and down need to be looked at. Some of those things were built cheaply and the lower quality tape used usually put a lot of residue onto both the erase head as well as the rec/play head. You'll have to check into the tape transport's viability. I think i'll stick to the pre-recorded 8 tracks, and if i want to make my own tapes, I'll stick to good ol' cassettes. And to top it all off, it seems to be getting worse as the tape switches tracks track 1 was bearable, track 2 was borderline irritating, and i'm on track 3 right now, and it's like listening to 2 stereos playing at the same time. I like 8 tracks, but recording anything onto them is an absolute heart attack. I had to fight myself not to buy the stupid thing, because I've had it with ANY cheap crap. it looked really nice, it was in near mint condition, it worked perfectly, and it had a really cool early '70s design to it. I did see a Soundesign stereo (all in one 8 track, cassette, tuner, turntable) at a flea market recently. But then i saw this unit, and i thought "well, maybe this one might not be so bad". I vowed never to buy any Lloyd's product again, ever since my first stereo, which was a Lloyd's, and multiple other Lloyd's crap. Then I'm buying a stereo for my basement that isn't a total POS. I only bought it for it's 8 track recording capabilities, but it doesn't even do that well (hell, it doesn't do ANYTHING well), so since that's my only reason for buying it, then i think this POS is going RIGHT back to the damn value village where it came from. maybe i should take this Lloyd's stereo I bought and dump it in the trash, or sell it to some stupid moron. I never, NEVER have this problem copying over cassettes. ![]() **** memorex, I never been satisfied with ANY of their blank tapes new or old) When a tape recording has been sitting for a while, does it become permanent or something?Īnd no, it's probabally not my 8 track recorder, because I just made another tape 2 days ago, and there's no evidence that anything was recorded onto it before. Why is it, that when you tape over an old blank 8 track, you can still hear what was previously recorded onto the thing?! I just wasted 90 minutes taping onto a blank 8 track I bought, and i can still hear Bob Welsh's shitty ass music through my own music (Bob Welsh is what someone originally recorded onto the tape).
